Frederick J. Skwirz

Frederick J. Skwirz, 89, of Cumberland, died Monday, March 6, 2017.  He was the husband of the late Ruth L. (Holme) Skwirz. They had been married 59 happy years at the time of her death in 2011.

Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Felix and Eva (Kolc) Skwirz.

Mr. Skwirz was employed as an office manager for Table Talk Bakery until his retirement.  He was also employed part-time at his “favorite job” at Matteo’s Farm.

He was a graduate of Bryant College and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Skwirz was a scoutmaster for Troop 7 when his sons were in scouting which brought him close to family and the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman, loved the outdoors, working in his yard and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Paul F. Skwirz and his wife Anne of Cumberland and Kevin T. Skwirz and his companion Lynn Labossiere of Charlestown; his grandchildren Meghan Mancino, Sarah Skwirz, Lauren Skwirz and Peter Skwirz and his wife Amy Goins; great grandchildren Lily Marie Silva, Eve Elizabeth Silva, Alexandra Mancino and Rose Skwirz and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Stanley Skwirz, Max Skwirz, Edward Skwirz and Charles Skwirz, Sadie Clynes and Rose Jeremiah.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm.
