Paul Brunell, 79, of Cumberland, died Monday, January 2, 2017.  He was the husband of Sandra M. (Harris) Brunell.  Born in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Norman and Ruth (Weiss) Brunell.

Mr. Brunell was employed as an educator in various private middle schools in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College and his Masters Degree from Fairfield University. Throughout his career, he played and refereed for the Rhode Island Lacrosse Association.

He is also survived by a son, Peter Brunell of Rhode Island; two daughters, Carolyn Volz of Connecticut and Lisa Nicholson of Ohio; brother David Brunell of Maryland; step-sons, John Beauregard of Rhode Island and Bradford Beauregard of Rhode Island and 7 grandchildren.

Calling hours for Paul Brunell are canceled for Saturday, January 7, 2017 due to severe snow storms and parking bans.  They will be rescheduled and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of RI, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI 02886.
