Armand R. McLinden
March 20, 2016

Armand R. McLinden, 82, of Pawtucket passed away on Sunday, March 20th, at The Miriam Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Daniel and Amanda (Garreau) McLinden.

He was the loving husband of Mary McLinden for 58 years. He leaves two sons; Mark A. McLinden and his wife, Susan of Warwick and John P. McLinden, Sr. and his wife, Cara of S. Kingstown. His five precious grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, John Jr., Andrew, and Erinn were his pride and joy.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

He was pre-deceased by 3 siblings: a brother, Daniel and two sisters, Margaret and Delores.

Armand was a driver salesman for many years in the Southern MA area for both the Ward Baking Company and then his own self-employed distributorship for the LePage Baking Company.  A serious accident forced his retirement in early 2000. He was most remembered during his work years for helping stranded motorists and the public along his routes and returning lost possessions to their rightful owners. He loved animals and never met a dog he did not like, and they loved him back. He and his Golden Retriever, Handsome, were constant companions. He was a good man with many friends and his sense of humor brightened their days.

Armand was a member of the 115th Military Police, RI National Guard for 10 years and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union.

Visitation to which family and friends are invited will be held at the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln, RI at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, March 23, followed by a celebration of his life. Burial will be held at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, East Providence, RI.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please perform a random act of kindness in his honor for a person or animal.
