Maurice D. Moreau
December 31, 2015

Maurice D. Moreau, 95, of Port Charlotte, FL and Westerly, RI, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Westerly Nursing Home. He was the husband of Marie (Bechard) Moreau. They had been married 73 years.

Born in Canada, a son of the late Ernest X. and Eva (Arseneault) Moreau, he had lived in Central Falls for many years prior to moving to Florida.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Robert Moreau and his wife Joni of Cranston, Denis Moreau and his wife Leslie of Smithfield and Gerald and his wife Shelley of Lincoln; his daughter Lillian Gagnier and her husband Jean of Westerly; his sisters Annette Gautreaux of Pawtucket, Lucille Gibeault of Central Falls and Theresa Coulombe or Worcester, MA; four grandchildren Noel, Justin, Jake and Mallory, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Gerard Moreau, Joseph Moreau and Simone Messier.

Mr. Moreau was employed as a machinist/toolmaker in the textile industry for many years, though he spent much of his time maintaining his rental properties, and was always available to lend a hand to family and friends.

Throughout his life, one of his great pleasures was traveling all around the country with his beloved wife Marie, affectionately called "Blondie." With their Airstream trailer in tow, they indulged their wanderlust in this home-away-from-home. Their most frequent destinations included beaches and music festivals wherever possible, where they would  admire many sunsets together. Music, dancing and social interactions were constants in his life.

He was the epitome of "Joie de vivre" and his joy and happiness was contagious. As more than one well wisher has declared, "Heaven will never be the same!" Rest in Peace, "Moe." We love you.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 8:45 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Spirit Parish (formerly St. Mathew Church), 1030 Dexter St., Central Falls.  Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8. No burial is planned.
