Jeannine Marie Marguerite (Lafond) Taylor,
age 79, of Central Falls, RI, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Saint Antoine’s Residence in North Smithfield.
Jeannine was born on Shawmut Avenue in Central Falls on November 5, 1935; she was the oldest of three children to the late Homer and Lucille (Dery) Lafond. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church (Holy Spirit Parish), where she also attended elementary school. She then attended Notre Dame High School and received her LPN nursing degree from Brockton Vocational School of Nursing in 1964.
She lived and practiced nursing in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, and Texas until she returned home to Rhode Island in 1996 where she finished her nursing career at Mount Saint Rita’s in Cumberland, RI.
Jeannine is survived by her three children; Mark C. Taylor (Sonia) of Rolla, MO; Adele Black (James), and Elise Hickey (Mathew); she is also survived by her five grandchildren Jamie, Morgan, Devin, Paige and Emma, as well as her sister-in-law Claudette Lafond. In addition to her parents, Jeannine was preceded in death by her brother Homer L. Lafond Jr. and her sister Annette M. Seaberg.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing for herself and others. Her outdoor interests included clamming, quahogging, and crabbing with friends and family.
Friends and family may call at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln, RI from 4-7 PM on Friday, January 9. Funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Parish 1030 Dexter Street, Central Falls, RI at 9 AM on Saturday, January 10th. Internment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cumberland, RI.
