Ernest J. Cabral,
91, of Warwick, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Manuel and Laura (Lambert) Cabral and the husband of the late Kathleen (Collins) Cabral.
A veteran of WWII, flying with the 8th Army Air Force, he worked with the French Underground earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and the French Croix de Guerre. He founded Cabco Engineering Co. in 1953 and was active in the American Society of Plant Engineers. He also served as President of the Cumberland Civic Center.
He leaves two sons, Ernest J. "Gip" Cabral of Central Falls and Michael F. Cabral of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Karen Cabral of Maryville, TN and Kathleen Cabral of Cumberland; a brother, Louis Cabral of Port Clinton, OH; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a dedicated and loving partner, Donna Rousseau of Warwick. He was the brother of the late Wilfred, Mary, Leo, Jeanette and Marie Cabral.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:15 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at Holy Spirit Parish, 1030 Dexter St., Central Falls. Military honors will take place following the Mass. Calling hours are Friday evening from 6-8.
