William J. Moran, 87, of Cumberland, died suddenly on Monday, October 22nd, at home. He was the husband of the late Marion E. (Murphy) Moran. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John H. and Elise (Morin) Moran.

Mr. Moran was employed as an Assistant Secretary in the Underwriting Department of Puritan Life Insurance Co. for 28 years retiring in 1985. He previously was employed at the former Sayles Finishing Co. In addition, he was a self-employed, part-time Sunday Newspaper Dealer until retiring in 1974.

Mr. Moran was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and had been a member of the New England Underwriters Association.

His sons Retired Colonel William J. Moran USAF of Guilford, NH, Mark E. Moran of Hudson, FL and Neil T. Moran of Cumberland; his daughters Mary E. Reynolds of Pawtucket and Jean F. Ferguson of Plympton, MA; his brother Lawrence Moran of Elderson, PA; his sister Elise Gagnon of Arizona; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews survive him. He was the brother of the late David L. Moran, John Moran and Mary Moran.

His funeral will be held on Friday, October 26th at 9:15 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation is on Friday from 8:30-9:15 am.
