Bernard E. Meunier, 85, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Oakland Grove Health Center, Woonsocket, RI. He was the loving husband for 58 years to Claire J. (Berard) Meunier. He was born October 13, 1926 in Woonsocket, the son of the late Raymond E. and Aldora (Desrosiers) Meunier.

Bernard graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket and then served in the Army during WWII. After his Honorable discharge he went to Providence College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He was employed as a finance manager for Seaboard Finance until 1972 followed by Peterson Puritan as a Quality Control Manager until 1988.

He served as a Lector and Minister of the Eucharist for many years at St. Patrick Parish in Cumberland. He was an avid fan of his beloved Red Sox and he shared his wit and wisdom with everyone he met.

He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marc Meunier and Susan of Granby, CT; two grandchildren, Jessica Meunier of Arlington, MA, and Daniel Meunier of Clearwater, FL; his brother-in-law George Gautreau, and his four nephews and nieces, George Gautreau, Jr., Monique Gautreau, Suzanne Blakely and Philip Gautreau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 18 at 9 AM at St. Patrick Church, 309 Broad St., Cumberland, RI. Burial will be at Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jesuit Community, Campion Center, 319 Concord Road, Weston, MA 02493-1398, to support its ministry of care for elderly and infirm Jesuits.
