Anthony E. Ferri
November 20, 2011

Anthony E. Ferri, "Uncle Tony" or "Papa Tony," died Sunday, November 20th. Born in Providence, he resided in Central Falls and was a member of the Central Falls Fire Department in the fifties. While a firefighter, he chaired one of the first fighters' Muscular Dystrophy drives. Tony was an excellent cook, running the Lunchonette at the YMCA in Pawtucket. He would often volunteer his cooking skills at Holy Trinity Church and many other organizational functions.

He drove tractor trailers and buses, and an ambulance for Rhode Island Hospital.

Tony was a World War II veteran and was a past Garfield Amvets Post Commander. He was very active in the Garfield Social Club and chaired the Scholarship Committee for many years. Tony was a fourth degree member and past Grand Knight of the Sullivan Council Knights of Columbus. He was also past President of the former Holy Trinity Holy Name Society and bowled in the Holy Trinity men's bowling league.

He loved the Boston Red Sox particularly "Teddy Ballgame." He was a Providence College Basketball season ticket holder.

Tony loved traveling with his wife of 67 years, "Dot". Perhaps his best quality was his love of socializing with people. He truly enjoyed life and he lived like the Christmas Classic, "A Wonderful Life."

Tony is survived by his sons Ronald E. Ferri and his wife Barbara of West Hartford CT, Robert A. "Bob" Ferri and his wife Bernadette of Central Falls; his daughter Linda M. Ferri of Warwick; his sister Rosa Janelle of N. Providence, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Frederick, Edward, Marshall, William and Eleanor Ferri and Catherine Simonetti.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Spirit Parish (St. Matthew Church), Dexter St., Central Falls. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm.
