Eugene J. "Gene" Bedard

Eugene J. "Gene" Bedard, 87, of Lincoln, died Wednesday at Home & Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Therese M. (Berard) Bedard. They had been married 65 years. Together Gene and Terry founded Lincoln Funeral Home in 1959. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary "May" (Walker) Bedard and the stepson of Claudine (Sublon) Tellier Bedard.

Mr. Bedard was a Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated in 1951 from the Boston School of Anatomy, now New England Institute at Mt. Ida College. He received his embalmer-funeral director license in 1954. He was a member of the RI Funeral Directors Assn. and the National Funeral Directors Assn., and the Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council. He had been a member of Lincoln FOPA.

He is also survived by his daughters, Beverly A. Eboli and her husband Ralph of Mystic, CT, and Paulette M. Bedard of Lincoln, granddaughter, Beth A. Timmerman and her husband Michael of Groton, CT, grandson Mark G. Eboli and his wife Vanessa of Peoira, IL, great granddaughter Ariana N. Timmerman and great grandson Zander M. Timmerman of Groton, CT, his faithful companion Cuddles and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clarice Bauer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Jude Church, Front St., Lincoln. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Tuesday from 3-7 pm at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln. The family requests donations be made in Gene's memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904-9826.
