Ruth L. Skwirz

Ruth L. Skwirz, 80, of Cumberland, died Thursday at Evergreen House Health Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Frederick J. Skwirz. They had been happily married for 59 years. Born is Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Anne (Robushi) Holme.

Mrs. Skwirz worked as a cashier for First National Stores until her retirement. She was a member of the SPRED ( a religious education program for challenged individuals) and Lasalette Prayer Group. She had also served as a substituted CCD teacher at St. Aidan Parish. She also was a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by her sons Paul F. and his wife Anne M. Skwirz of Cumberland, and Kevin T. Skwirz of Charlestown, her sisters Norma Schlageter of Smithfield, Beverly Noelte of Rehoboth, Brenda Berry of Pleasant Valley, NY and Carol Holme of East Providence, her brother Robert Holme of Rehoboth, grandchildren Meghan, Sarah, Lauren and Peter Skwirz and great granddaughters Lily Marie and Eve Elizabeth Silva. She was the sister of the late Roger, William, and Grace Holme and Shirley Gee.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, E. Providence. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Assn. RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St. Ste. 306, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated.
