On November 4 th , John F. Horoho, Jr. died peacefully of natural causes after a series of illnesses at his home in Pawtucket , RI . He was seventy-eight years old. Mr. Horoho, affectionately known to his family as Grampy, was retired after over thirty-seven years of service with the former, New England Telephone and Telegraph, now Verizon Communications.

He was the beloved husband and soul mate of Catherine A. (White) Horoho celebrating fifty-four years of marriage this past October. Born in Providence RI on January 18, 1932, he was the loving son of the late John F. Horoho, Sr. and Mary (Leary) Horoho. Mr. Horoho spent his childhood years in Cranston, RI/ After a brief period of time residing in Providence during the late 1950's, early 1960's, he moved his family to the Oak Hill section of Pawtucket, RI where he spent the last forty-six years of his life.

Along with his wife Catherine, Mr. Horoho is survived by five children and their spouses, John and Jean (Hamel) Horoho of Storrs, CT, Colonel (U.S. Army, Retired) Raymond and Major General (U.S. Army) Patricia (Dallas) Horoho of Clifton, VA, Jean (Horoho) and Carl Costantino of Hopkinton, MA, Lieutenant (South Kingstown Police Department) Paul and Patricia (Ryan) Horoho of Narragansett, RI and Colonel (U.S. Army) Mark and Cynthia (Mars) Horoho of Clifton, VA. Sister Marie Horoho, RSM of Lincoln , RI , his loving sister also survives her brother. “Grampy” was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren, Kerry, Michael, Robert, John, Mary Margaret, Rachel, Jessica, Jake, Tara, Daniel and James.

A 1950 graduate of Cranston High School , Mr. Horoho served his country honorably while on active duty as a member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard during the Korean War. Upon release from active duty, he began his career with New England Telephone and Telegraph serving in positions of increased responsibility throughout the greater Southern New England area. Active throughout his life in anything that involved his family, he was a teacher, coach and mentor volunteering his time in youth sports and scouting programs, and as a member of the Parish Council and CFM groups at St. Mary's in Pawtucket, RI where he was a long time parishioner. Over the last twenty years, his energy and focus turned to enjoying retirement usually traveling around the world and country to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be conducted on Sunday, November 7 th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave. , Lincoln , RI 02865 . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 8 th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 103 Pine St. , Pawtucket , RI 02860 . At 12:00 PM, following the Mass, Mr. Horoho will be laid to rest with military honors at the Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI 02882.
